I-STORMS 4th STEERING COMMITTEE AND PROJECT MEETING IN BARI
On the 12th -14th of June 2019, the project partners met in Bari on the occasion of the 4th Project and Steering Committee Meeting of the I-STORMS project, hosted by the Department of Civil Protection, of Apulia Region (PP5). Representatives from all partners discussed the implementation status of all Work Packages, while Work Package leaders presented the state of the art and pending issues.
One of the main tools of the I-STORMS Project has been completed, i.e. the I-STORMS Sea Storm Atlas. The Atlas draws the map of risk characterisation of ADRION coasts, with the aim of identifying most vulnerable areas to focus on, thus strengthening common understanding of current challenges.
The Data Catalogue reports all information collected from partners with the Metadata questionnaire. The aim of this survey was to identify existing networks, forecast systems and data infrastructures to design the Integrated Web System tool (I-STORMS IWS). The material is organized in a catalogue with the aim to help the design of the web system architecture.
NATIONAL AND 2nd TRANSNATIONAL NETWORK MEETING IN FERRARA – CIVIL PROTECTION EXERCISE IN CESENATICO
The results of the I-STORMS project, were presented at Remtech 2019, the fair recently concluded in Ferrara, that deals with environmental and territorial issues such as natural hazards and redevelopment. In this context, the first regional and national simulation on storm surges, “Costa 2019”, was organized in Cesenatico, with the purpose of improving coastal risk management.
National Network Conference and Workshops in Venice
Following the fruitful session on communicating forecast uncertainty at the Project Meeting held in Bari during June 2019, the City of Venice will organize a more in-depth workshop on “Communicating uncertainty of weather-marine forecast”. Since Open I-STORMS will soon disseminate forecasts to the general public, it is imperative to define as soon as possible the most efficient method of communicating forecast uncertainty.
