2nd Transnational I-STORMS Network Conference in Ferrara – Civil Protection Exercise in Cesenatico

The National (Region of Emilia Romagna) and 2nd Transnational I-STORMS Network Conference will be held in Ferrara on the 20th of September and it will be organized by P3, ARPA Emilia Romagna.

The National Conference which will take place at the RemtechExpo, will start at 2.00 PM. The admission is free for the visitors who pre-register online at this link: http://www.webland2000.com/RemTech2019/Default.aspx
The deadline for pre-registration is the 16th of September at midnight.  After this date, the entrance fee is 15 Euros.

The Conference will open with a presentation of Mr. Sergio Castellari, from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology INGV, on coastal problems related to climate change and severe sea storms. A presentation of Mr. Carlo Cacciamani and Mr. Alexander Toniazzo, from the Civil Protection Department, on The Civil Protection marine and coastal alerting system in Italy, will follow. Afterwards, Ms. Isabella Marangoni, the I-STORMS Project Manager, from the LP, i.e. the City of Venice, will present to the participants the Project. Subsequently, the Project main completed outputs and tools will be presented:

  • by P2, CNR ISMAR and its representatives, Dr. Christian Ferrarin, Dr. Stefano Menegon and Dr. Amedeo Fadini, who will outline the IWS, an integrated web platform for the management and preparedness of extreme events caused by sea storms.
  • by P3, ARPA Emilia Romagna and its representatives, Dr. Andrea Valentini and Dr. Alessandra De Savino, responsible for the I-STORMS Guidelines and Strategy on the sea storms management
  • by the LP and its representatives, Mr. Alvise Papa, Mr. Marco Favaro and Mr. Giovanni Massaro, as regards the permanent cooperation table of the I-STORMS project: an opportunity for a framework of stable collaboration at the Adriatic-Ionian basin level

Following the aforementioned, Ms. Clarissa Dondi, from ARSTePC Emilia-Romagna will make a presentation on “Costa 2019”: Civil Protection exercise for the hydraulic and coastal risk”.

The Conference will be completed will a very interesting discussion on sea storms and their impact on the coast, by Mr. Stefano Folli Director of ECOSCIENZA magazine with Mr. Maurizio Mainetti, Director of ARSTePC Emilia-Romagna, Ms. Monica Guida, Head of Regional Service for the Defense, Soil and Land Reclamation, Mr. Giuseppe Bortone, Director of Arpae, Ms. Tiziana Paccagnella, Head of the Hydro-Meteo-Climate Service of ARPAE, Mr. Sergio Castellari, INGV – EEA and Mr. Carlo Cacciamani, Head of the Central Functional Center Service, DPC.

On the 21st of September, in Cesenatico, the Civil Protection coastal exercise “Costa 2019” will take place. Mr. Matteo Gozzoli, Mayor of Cesenatico, and Ms. Clarissa Dondi from ARSTePC Cesenatico will open the event with a presentation on flood management and connections with operational scenarios.

Partners from Slovenia Croatia and Greece will attend the two-day’s events, while a video will be also created for the I-STORMS Network’s dissemination and the Project’s transferability, based on the Transnational Network Conference and the Civil Protection Exercise.
