| CURRENT PROJECT OUTPUTS: THE I-STORMS NETWORK |
During the first six months of implementation, the first achievement and key output of the project, which is foreseen to also play a major role throughout the project’s lifetime and beyond, facilitating transferability and capitalization, has been completed. The I-STORMS Network on the forecast, management and early warning of ADRION sea storm emergencies is currently composed by 110 Institutions from 5 countries of the Adriatic-Ionian area, i.e Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia and Albania and is expected to include more members, by the end of the project. Its members include types of all the project target groups, namely: 21 local public authorities, 25 regional public authorities, 5 national public authorities, 21 higher education and research institutes, 10 sectoral agencies, 12 enterprises excluding SMEs, 6 interest groups including NGOs, 10 SMEs.The Network members have common characteristics such as: having their main activity on the coast or at marine level, being affected from the sea storms; need for information and early warning services on marine risks; bearing responsibilities for informing the citizens or taking measures against the effects; interest in contributing to the implementation of WPT2 tool, etc. The Network’s main purpose is to facilitate the collaboration and knowledge sharing, information transfer, and results uptake, by fostering a more integrated community of stakeholders, researchers and users and improving public engagement in the importance of risk prepardness/risk managemnt, as well as in public understanding for the role of early warning and civil protection procedures as regards sea storms. The Network will liaise with other structures in the EU and particularly in the EUSAIR area to ensure constant exchange with relevant EU and Interreg projects working on similar topics.
