The Lead Partner of the I-STORMS Project, the city of Venice, organised the Launch Event, on the 2nd of March 2018, in Palazzo Cavalli-Franchetti, Venice.
Mr. Giorgio d’Este, Venice Deputy Mayor for Civil Protection, performed the welcome speech on transnational cooperation and common strategies for the safeguarding of the Adritic-Ionian area. Ms. Paola Ravenna, Manager of the European Policies Department, City of Venice, presented the I-STORMS Project.
During session 2 the technical-scientific objectives of the I-STORMS project, consequences and expectations were presented by Mr. Valerio Collini, Manager of the Tidal forecasting and early warning center, City of Venice and Mr. Christian Ferrarin, Researcher at the National Research Council-Institute of Marine Sciences.
The topic of session 3 was “Learning from EU funded projects on the implementation of strategies for marine risk prevention in the Adriatic-Ionian area”. In this context Ms. Olga Sedioli, Emilia-Romagna Region, presented the results from SHAPE project, Mr. Lorenzo Natrella, Apulia Region, presented the results from HAZARD project and Mr. Alessandro Sarretta, National Research Council-Institute of Marine Sciences, presented the best practices from ADRIPLAN project.
During session 4 the synergies with the ADRION projects PORTODIMARE and HarmoNIA, were discussed. Specifically, Ms. Olga Sedioli, Emilia Romagna Region, presented the PORTODIMARE project and Ms. Marina Lipizer, National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics, presented the HarmoNIA project.
The day ended with a site visit in the Venice Lagoon for PPs and APs.
